Company HistoryThe MAGNUS Business simulation was first created in 1973 for a competition held in Nanyang University (a predecessor of the National University of Singapore) for economic students. Back then, it was known as management game, and it was run on a mainframe using punch cards. Dr. Yeo Gee Kin was given full rights to the game in 1986, and revamped the game, resulting in the birth of MAGNUS. In recognition of its predecessor, MAGNUS started as version 2.0. MAGNUS has come a long way since then, undergoing numerous revisions, improvements and software updates. MAGNUS is no longer used for competitions alone, but it has been and still is successfully used in university business and information systems courses. Only recently did Dr Yeo decide to take MAGNUS one step further, and with the blessing of the National University of Singapore, formed DecisionWare in October 2003 to promote and further develop MAGNUS. DecisionWare has also developed the "Ice-Cream Factory" simulation game, a game catered to younger students, and conducted a nationwide competion in 2005 using the game. The company has also expanded its range of services, from customized simulations to corporate training, all with the aim of helping people make "better decisions through simulation games".
