Competitions

A simulation game is a great platform for evaluating and encouraging students' interest in a particular subject. DecisionWare has organized a number of competitions using simulation games, the most recent being the National Management Competition 2005 with Singapore Institute of Management, and the Youth Entrepreneurship Competition 2005.

National Management Competition 2005

The National Management Competition (NMC) is an event that has been conducted by the Singapore Institute of Management (SIM) for over 15 years. Tertiary students from all over Singapore are invited to compete in the competition over the course of 3 weeks. The champions will then represent Singapore in a regional competition, competing with teams from other countries. In 2005, SIM engaged DecisionWare to conduct the competition, using a customized game, SIMBiz, for the competition. The competition was a success, involving over 100 school teams and over 30 corporate teams. DecisionWare will conduct the competition again this year in 2006.

Youth Entrepreneurship Competition 2005

The Youth Entrepreneurship Competition (YEC) 2005 was organized solely by DecisionWare, in our efforts to promote entrepreneurship amongst Singapore students as well as to encourage the use of simulation games in education. The competition involved 2 phases, the first phase using the Ice-cream Factory simulation game, and the second phase involving 'real' selling of ice-cream by the students.

The competition was very well-received, involving over 500 students from secondary schools and junior colleges all over Singapore, and was supported by Haagen Daz and Action Community for Entrpreneurship... more
